WHAT THE SESSION IS ABOUT

Your firm grew. Your workload grew with it.

Most architecture firm owners didn’t start a practice to chase invoices, rewrite scopes and answer every question from the team. But that’s where many end up: carrying the whole firm on their shoulders, working nights and weekends, and running into the same problems project after project.

The usual fix is to hire. And more hands do help, but only when the firm is set up for them. If every decision still has to go through you, a bigger team just means more people waiting on you. The overwhelm doesn’t go away. It scales.

We see this every day. At WorldTeams we place architects, designers and engineers inside US firms, and the firms that get the most out of their teams are the ones where the owner isn’t the bottleneck. That’s why we invited Enoch Sears, founder of Business of Architecture, to run his most requested workshop for our community.

This isn’t a webinar where you sit and listen. It’s a working session: you’ll rate your own firm, name your biggest block and leave knowing what to fix first.

WHERE FIRMS GET STUCK

Four problems almost every firm owner knows

We’ll work through each one, and you’ll leave knowing which is yours.

01

Unpredictable cash flow

Even with steady leads, money comes in unevenly. That makes it hard to plan, hard to hire and hard to pay yourself the same salary every month.

02

Fees, scope and project management

You win the work, but the fee doesn’t match the effort. Scope creeps, and there’s still work left when the budget runs out.

03

Projects that don’t match your ambition

You started your firm to do meaningful design. Instead, admin and coordination eat your week, and the work isn’t the work you wanted.

04

A team you can actually rely on

You hire for help, but everything still flows through you. Instead of feeling supported, you’ve become the bottleneck for your own team.

Long hours and constant firefighting aren’t the price of running a firm. They’re a sign something in the system needs to change.

Enoch Sears, AIA

Founder, Business of Architecture

Enoch opened his architecture practice in the middle of the 2008 recession, juggling side jobs by day and building the firm at night. His architecture training had taught him to design, not to run a business. So he went looking for answers from other architects, entrepreneurs and mentors, and found that almost every firm owner was dealing with the same overwhelm.

That’s why he founded Business of Architecture, which today has helped more than 4,900 architects build firms that don’t depend on them for everything.

WorldTeamsBusiness of Architecture

Business of Architecture helps firm owners build a business that runs without them at the center. WorldTeams gives them the talent to do it. Together, we’re helping US firms grow without burning out.

FAQS

Who is it for?

Architecture firm owners, principals and partners who feel stretched thin: cash flow that’s hard to predict, projects that run past the fee, frustration with the work, or a team that still needs them for every decision. It’s hosted by WorldTeams and led by Enoch Sears, founder of Business of Architecture. The focus is on US firms, but the principles apply anywhere.
