The Challenge: Two Problems at Once

When Spence and Denise Lynch stepped into leadership at their family-run firm, founded by Spence’s father Chuck in 1996, they inherited two problems at once.

Challenge #1: A small, stagnated local candidate pool

After a stretch of no growth through COVID, the Amarillo market wasn’t producing candidates. Local hires with one or two years of experience were asking for big-city salaries, and past interns often moved to larger metros.

They needed senior, project-ready Revit production help: someone who could carry commercial and residential work from SD through CDs, without the cost, delay, and anxiety of a traditional local hire.

Challenge #2: First-time hirers

Neither Spence nor Denise had led a hire before. Coming from a production role, they weren’t sure how to shortlist candidates, run interviews, or manage the risk of a bad match.

The Solution: A Shortlist, a Guided Process, and Room to Grow

1

Curated shortlist, not an overwhelming pool

WorldTeams pre-vetted the market and delivered a shortlist of three architecture-specific candidates matched to Lynch’s commercial and residential needs.

If we had a thousand candidates and WorldTeams brought us the three best, that was very reassuring and not overwhelming.

2

Guided interviews and structured onboarding

WorldTeams walked Spence and Denise through the interview process, handled contract and kickoff, and set up check-ins from week one. Tomás, a Revit-strong Project Manager, started in early January 2026.

Result: Within weeks, Tomás was integrated. Eight months in, Spence describes the experience as “a seamless integration, it feels like Tomás has been on the team for much longer than that.”

3

Scale the team as workload grew

As production demand climbed, WorldTeams expanded the support team: Brenda joined as a full-time drafter, and Valentina was added as a part-time drafter by mid-2026.

Result: A 1-to-3 growth path, sized to actual workload. No over-hiring, no idle capacity.

WorldTeams is a partner with our firm to enable us the ability to find qualified people at an affordable rate, and support us on every step of the way.

From Producer to Principal

Before WorldTeams, Spence spent most of his day producing, drawing, drafting, and moving tasks forward himself. His new leadership role required a different mode: client relationships, business development, direction. The two didn’t fit in the same calendar.

With WorldTeams’ professionals handling production, Spence stopped being the bottleneck. Operational work moved to the new remote team while strategic and business decisions stayed with him.

8 Months, 3 Hires, Zero Local Overhead

Eight months in, Lynch Architects is no longer a firm figuring out how to hire. It is a firm running a production engine it never had to build alone. What started as a first-time hiring decision loaded with uncertainty became a three-person remote team that operates like an in-house extension.

The firm gained capacity without gaining overhead, and confidence without gaining risk. For a 30-year family-run practice stepping into its next chapter, WorldTeams didn’t just fill a role. It removed hiring as a bottleneck to growth.

It’s been very pleasant to know that it doesn’t just revolve around me getting tasks done. I can ask my team who supports me to get that done. It truly is that seamless.

Your first hire doesn’t have to be a gamble

Firms hiring for the first time don’t need a bigger candidate pool. They need a shorter one, vetted for the work in front of them, with support through interviews, onboarding, and the first months on the team.
