When you first visit, we ask whether we may use non-essential cookies, and rejecting is always as easy as accepting.
What happens before you answer depends on where you are, because the rules differ. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we set no analytics or advertising cookies until you accept. Everywhere else they are active from the start and stop as soon as you reject.
Session recording is the exception: it never starts anywhere until you accept.

Essential
A small number of cookies are needed for the site to work at all: they keep your session secure, remember the cookie choice you made, and protect our forms from automated abuse. These are always active, because without them the site cannot function.

Session recording
Hotjar reconstructs how a visit unfolded: the pages viewed, the scrolling, where the pointer moved, and what was typed into fields. We use it to find parts of the site that do not work well. Because it is the most detailed of our tools, it only loads after you accept, wherever you are in the world.
